Emily
ASL Tutor

I am a wife to my husband, Nathan and we are the parents of 9 children ranging from 4 to 26 years old. I am also a Nana to one granddaughter. I have 3 special needs children. Lilly is a non-verbal, g tube fed, visually impaired daughter with cerebral palsy requiring complete care. Laci is twice-exceptional, she has autism and is gifted, and has been diagnosed with ADHD. Then Logan has some learning disabilities, autism, suffers from PTSD, and is diagnosed with ADHD.
At a very young age myself, I adopted 2 boys (ages 4 and 6), who are now adults. My boys went through some trauma themselves, however, it has made them great men now. One son has made me a nana.
Then I have 3 wonderful stepchildren. Last, my youngest spunky 4-year-old daughter, who makes life so fun! She is 4 going onto 18.
I received a bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies from Utah Valley University and a Master's degree in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University. I have worked as a certified interpreter for Utah Valley University and Alpine School District, working with local elementary and deaf students. I also have many years of experience working as a teacher's aide with deaf children.
I served in the US Army and was promoted to Sergeant within 3 years, I was deployed to Iraq and subsequently received a medical retirement due to a service-related injury.

I have been a High Needs Case Manager with Jewish Family and Children Services working with at-risk youth.

I have been homeschooling my 3 special needs kids for the last 3 years. I enjoy teaching children and the look on their faces when something finally clicks and they understand a concept.

I would love to teach you and your family ASL or help tutor your child in elementary subjects. I am willing to provide in-home services or over zoom.
